- Lesson objectives
- To let students the understanding the following sentene structure: Otherwise I would have thrown it out. Students will consider the paraphrase of "otherwise".
- To understand the way the auther stared studying at school when he was 98.
- Teaching objectives
- To make the speed and steadiness coexist in the lesson: Since this is the third lesson in this semester, I will speed up the procedure, but at the same time, I will try not to hurry, so that students can feel relaxed.
- To use activities that I have not used in the previous lesson.

- 5min. Vocabulary Quiz by columns and rows.
- 5min. Question and answer time.
- 10min. Checking the meaning of each sentences by recasting.
- 5min. Aural reading by read and lookup.
- 10min. Checking the expressions and grammar in today's passage.
- 5min. Parallel reading in pairs.
- 5min. Questionnaire

As for the lesson objectives, I could take enough time to let students think about the meaning of "otherwise" through paraphrasing. Besides, I could give them a chance to guess the other's feeling about going to school, in the qestion and answer session.
As for teaching objectives, I succeeded in not being in a hurry in explanation, but I felt that the balance of speed and steadiness was very difficult. I took too much time for explanation, say 15 minutes. I want to finish it within 10 minutes.
I tried "read and lookup". It worked in that students tried to memorize the passage and say it aloud, but compared with the normal aural reading, it took more time, which I felt worsened the class atmosphere.
